It's a little-kept secret how great a community Portland is to live in.  We have the mountains and the coast, both within easy striking distance.  The Willamette, Columbia and numerous other rives also provide excellent water recreation year-round.  As I bike more, I am learning the incredible resources available here for bicyclists.  My favorite ride now is down along the eastside esplanade and across the river along the waterfront to the Spaghetti Factory!!!

The city is divided into eight regions which represent distinct and close-knit communities. Northeast Portland real estate options consist of single-family homes for sale, condominiums, townhouses, and land. Portland is different from other cities of its size because it offers an extensive park system, strong sense of community pride, ecclectic tastes, excellent mass transit options and a pedestrian and bicycle-friendly layout. The northeast Portland area of the city is comprised of the following neighborhoods: Woodlawn, Vernon, Concordia, Alameda, Grant Park, Sullivan’s Gulch, Irvington, Sabin, Eliot, Boise, Wilshire, Beaumont, Rose Way and Humboldt. Eliot, Irvington and Sullivan’s Gulch are located just a few miles north of downtown Portland. The remaining northeast neighborhoods are within 15 minutes of downtown by car or by MAX, Portland’s light rail system. Approximately 70,000 residents live in Northeast Portland. Residents may be established homeowners, families, urban professionals or artists. Popular activities are mainly centered on enjoying the eccentricity of the Portland culture. Coffee houses, bookstores, clothing boutiques, pubs and bars are all local gathering places. The entertainment and arts scenes are lively; music performances can be found throughout the city and the streets are peppered with art galleries and theaters, particularly in Concordia and the Alberta Arts District. A walk through the historic Irvington neighborhood is equally entertaining. As well, neighborhood parks provide athletic fields and courts, playgrounds, picnic areas and walking trails.

We have so many great venues for music it is impossible to list them all.  Check out the Willamette Week, The Oregonian and other great papers, publications to find what's happening at any given time.  Here's one link to help:
